Hiring a private chef to cook in your home may seem extravagant - but it is not as costly as you think. It is certainly no more expensive than going to a restaurant, especially if you consider that you won’t need to hire a babysitter or worry about calling a taxi, and most importantly, pay a huge mark-up on wine!

In the last six months, I have had the pleasure to cater and cook for my clients all over Scotland in their own homes or holiday houses. Each occasion has been different but my goal has remained the same – to ensure that my clients spend quality time with friends and family around the dinner table whilst enjoying restaurant quality food. Hiring a private chef takes the hassle out of entertaining so that you can relax and enjoy yourself and not worry about something burning in the kitchen or the pannacotta not setting!

I am often asked by people how it all really works – do I do the shopping? Do I clean up? Can I provide some cookery tips? Can the clients watch me cook? I do indeed buy all the ingredients and then prepare as much as I can from the Italba kitchen before heading to the venue (usually a few hours before dinner is due to start). I am more than happy for my clients to watch me cook and pass on some tips. I also appreciate that some clients desire an intimate evening with their friends or loved ones with less interaction. And yes, I do clean up…in fact, I won’t leave your kitchen until it is spotless!
